It’s time to revitalize the Shot of the Week… it’s been entirely too long since I’ve done one. But, after 52 in a row, it gets hard to come up with new and exciting shots to try. So, by all means, send me your suggestions (our Facebook page is most ideal) and I can keep this baby lasting longer! I was in Denver, Colorado last week and since they have a very “green” theme out there, they have a shot that fits the atmosphere very well. Without any further ado, the shot of the week (good from Monday, July 18 until Sunday, July 24) is Dirty Bong Water.

Dirty Bong Water

• 1 oz. Chambord
• 1 oz. Blue Curacao
• 1 oz. Amaretto
• 1 oz. Captain Morgan
• 1 oz. Sweet and Sour mix

Shake with ice and serve. Yes, that’s 5 ounces… but take it as a big shot. This is not a cocktail – though the proportions would say otherwise. Also, I don’t know why I always say that the shot is good from such and such of a date span… really, these shots are great anytime! So go now, buy some Dirty Bong Water at your favorite local bar, cheers!

Last week we went to the fans for a suggestion, this week I think we need to do a little rewind. We did the Blow Job’s Revenge before we did the regular shot. For that reason, the shot of the week (good from Monday, January 10 until Sunday, January 16) is the Blow Job.

Blow Job

• 1/4 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
• 1/2 oz Amaretto almond liqueur
• Whipped Cream

Pour the ingredients into a shot glass and top with whipped cream. Put your hands behind your back and put your mouth around the shot glass, tip your head back and swallow! If you have some CREAM laying around, which is alcohol infused whipped cream, use that! This shot can be enjoyed at most bars in Marquette, cheers!

It’s now officially 2011! To help me bring in the new year, I’m going to take a fan suggestion this week. I looked at our last fan suggestion (4 Horsemen) and it looks like this one is going to share the same ‘excitement’ as last time to actually try the shot. I am putting it at a 1 out of 20 readers will give it a try (errr… maybe 1 out of 100). In fact, if you are daring enough… capture it on video or take a picture and I will put it on the site! The shot of the week (good from Monday, January 3 until Sunday, January 9) is the Blow Job’s Revenge.

Blow Job’s Revenge

• Salt
• 1 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
• 1 oz Lime Juice

Here’s how this vengeful shot goes 1) put salt in your mouth, 2) take the shot of Bailey’s (DON’T SWALLOW), 3) take the shot of Lime Juice (DON’T SWALLOW), 4) let it sit for a few seconds until it curdles in your mouth, 5) SWALLOW! Now, in the words of our fan suggester, Janessa, “It’s supposed to simulate the consistency of the male expenditure caused by blow jobs ”. Umm… thank you, Janessa? This shot can be consumed at most bars in Marquette, cheers!?

The hardest shot for me to come up with seems to be the one that falls on New Year’s week. Last year I couldn’t come up with a “shot” that felt worthy, so I incorporated the first “Bomb Shot” into the feature. Well, here we are again, this year has come to an end and I find myself scratching my head as to what could be deemed ‘worthy’ to be celebrated as the shot for both 2010 and 2011. I’ve been avoiding the Jello Shots for over a year now because it’s not something that can be made on the spot, there is a little bit of pre-planning (and science) that goes into creating one. But hey, this is 2010 AND 2011 in the same week. So, it has been decided, the shot of the week (good from Monday, December 27, 2010 until Sunday, January 2, 2011) is the Jello Shot.

Strawberry Jell-O Shot

• 6 oz package Strawberry Jell-O
• 16 oz boiling water
• 10 oz Vodka
• 6 oz cold water

Whether or not you actually celebrate Christmas (which is this week!), most of us probably enjoy the time off from work and the extra time to spend with friends and family. To help you get into the spirit of the holiday, I have picked a shot that can be enjoyed with most any holiday plans. This week’s ‘holiday’ shot of the week (good from Monday, December 20 until Sunday, December 26) is the Candy Cane.

Candy Cane

• 1/2 oz. Peppermint Schnapps
• 1/2 oz. Rumple Minze
• 1/2 oz. cream
• 1 dash of Grenadine

Pour the ingredients (except Grenadine) into a shaker with ice and shake, serve into a shot glass. Put a dash of grenadine on top for coloring (too much will mask the taste, so use sparingly). This shot can be enjoyed at most bars in Marquette, happy holidays!

Tastes so good, make a grown man cry, Sweet cherry pie, oh yeah…” *Insert sweet guitar riff* Okay, I couldn’t help but quote Warrant’s song this time around, the lyrics just popped into my head, and now they are in yours (just try not thinking about the song, I dare you!). Well that was quite the tangent, let’s get to it already, the shot of the week (good from Monday, December 13 until Sunday, December 19) is Cherry Pie.

Cherry Pie

• 2 oz Vanilla Liqueur
• 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice

Shake the ingredients with ice and pour into your favorite shot glass (or just the bar’s shot glass) and serve. Pretty simple for a shot, but …it tastes so good, make a grown man cry, sweet cherry pie! oh yeah. Alright, I couldn’t help myself again. This shot can be enjoyed at most bars in Marquette, cheers!

Last week’s shot was a little brutal, I’ll admit that much. So this week it’s time to switch gears and go with a more timid shot. It’s a candy shot again! A candy we have yet to explore. The motto is ‘melts in your mouth, not in your hands’ and since a shot is a liquid and not a solid, I don’t recommend pouring the shot into your hand. The shot of the week (good from Monday, December 6 until Sunday, December 12) is the M&M.

M&M

• 1/2 oz Coffee Liqueur (Kahlua or Sabroso)
• 1/2 oz Amaretto

Pick a coffee liqueur and pour half an ounce first, then top with Amaretto. Kahlua is the typical coffee liqueur to use, but try changing it up and using Sabroso or Copa de Oro if you have it. This shot is available at most bars in Marquette, cheers!

This week we are adding a new section to the site and I thought I would let DJ Martinson pick the shot this week. He felt the need to suggest a hardcore shot, that has some of my favorite gentlemen in it, but tastes like death. The shot of the week (good from Monday, November 29 until Sunday, December 5) is the Four Horsemen.

Four Horsemen

• 1/4 oz Jim Beam bourbon whiskey
• 1/4 oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey
• 1/4 oz Johnnie Walker Red Label scotch whiskey
• 1/4 oz Jose Cuervo Especial gold tequila

I forewarned you that this would be a tough shot to swallow. It is also DJ Martinson’s birthday Thursday, he’ll be a quarter of a century old, so make sure to wish him a happy birthday! Keep an eye out for our new section, we’ll be releasing it mid-week. The 4 Horsemen can be enjoyed at most bars in Marquette, cheers!

Last Call Marquette is happy to announce that we have finally reached a full year of shots! Last year at this time we were trying to think of a new feature that would engage our visitors more and we came up with the shot of the week. I think we’ve done a good job so far, and we are on our 52nd shot! Yes, this week should mark the 53rd, but I believe we featured one shot for 2 weeks in a row (for those of you doing the math in your head). But nonetheless, we’ve managed to keep it interesting with new shot ideas every week! So without any further ado, this week’s shot of the week (good from Monday, November 22 until Sunday, November 28) is the B-52.

B-52

• 1/2 oz. Kahlua
• 1/2 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
• 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier (orange liqueur)

Layer each ingredient carefully with a spoon, starting with the Kahlua on the bottom, Bailey’s in the middle and the Grand Marnier on top. It is a tasty shot, but it is unexpectedly strong; the Grand Marnier gives it quite a kick! This shot can be enjoyed at most bars in Marquette, Happy Thanksgiving!

After spending a night out with the Digneit twins this past weekend, we had our fair share of shots. Unfortunately most of them have already been featured during a past week. But, I have to admit, P-Diggs has surprised me with a shot that is a dead on lock with its title. So now you know who to thank this week, the shot of the week (good from Monday, November 15 until Sunday, November 21) is the White Gummy Bear.

White Gummy Bears

• 1/2 oz. Raspberry Vodka
• 1/2 oz. Peach Schnapps
• 1 oz. Sweet & Sour Mix
• 1 splash of Sprite

Take out your shaker, fill halfway with ice, then add the vodka, schnapps, and sweet & sour mix. Shake and pour into your shot glass and top with a splash of Sprite. This shot is available at most bars in Marquette, enjoy!
